According to extensive research, host rocks naturally absorb carbon dioxide when exposed to the atmosphere through the process of mineral carbonation, which happens on its own. Despite the difficulties the sulphide ore processing method presents to the nickel industry, there are enough reasons to believe that low-cobalt nickel production will be more and more necessary in the near future. It is expected that extensive modelling of renewable energy installations at mine sites can help mining companies produce more renewable electricity, hence increasing market stability.
