Wit & Wire Teaches Women and Minorities to Amplify their Voices in a Male-Dominated Space

This course creator is on a mission to diversify voices in podcasting and empower women and minorities to start podcasts and online businesses.

Podcasting has historically been a male-dominated space. As of August 2021, only 23 of the top 100 podcasts in Apple Podcasts are hosted or co-hosted by women, and 51% of podcast listeners are male.

To help change this, Wit & Wire, a woman-founded and led company, made it its mission to push for diversity in the podcasting world. The company offers online courses that help women and minorities start and scale their podcasts to make their voices be heard. The company empowers diverse creators to build their influence and income through podcasting.

“A lot of women have dreamt of starting a podcast for years. But they hesitate because they don’t have a huge audience, they’re intimidated by the tech, or they don’t know where to start. And a big reason why I founded Wit & Wire was to simplify the entire process and ultimately empower more diverse creators to launch podcasts that consistently grow over time,” shared Wit & Wire founder and CEO Melissa Guller.

Melissa Guller is a talented course creator and passionate podcast producer. Melissa has produced multiple top 50 podcasts, hosted over 100 episodes, and her podcast, “Everything is Teachable,” topped the charts as #2 in Career Podcast in America. Her stint as a Director of Marketing at course creation software company Teachable developed her passion for teaching and she’s also a top-rated instructor at General Assembly NYC and on Skillshare. Her years of experience combined with her passion for teaching and sharing her expertise has led her and Wit & Wire to help more than 2,000 entrepreneurs share their thoughts and make an impact in their fields through podcasting.

But why is it that most podcasts are hosted and co-hosted by males? One of the common reasons why there are fewer women in the podcasting world is because of its technical aspect. To help change this, Wit & Wire offers a free training called “How to launch a podcast in 60 days without feeling overwhelmed.” This masterclass helps new podcast hosts cut their production time in half and start a high-quality podcast without getting overwhelmed by complicated tech and gadgets. And in line with Wit & Wire’s mission to push diversity in the world of podcasting, this training hopes to encourage women that tech and gadgets should not be a hindrance in building an avenue where they can think out loud, make a difference, and be the authority in their fields.

Apart from this free training, Wit & Wire also offers various online courses including their signature program called “Podcast Launch Accelerator,” a complete online course with ready-to-use podcast templates and checklists, live weekly group coaching, and a private online community of fellow new podcasters.
