“Glimmers of Hope by Kristy Lee is a young adult romance novel that will appeal to teenagers. In the year 2000, Janie abandoned a baby at the train station. That baby was adopted and named Elizabeth Wright. Tragedy struck, and Elizabeth (Birdie) was tossed from one foster home to another. In her new home and final year of high school, she met Austen, whose sole aim was to bully the new kid. Her life was hell, but in need of a place to stay, she got a job. Elizabeth found herself working as a live-in cleaner in the home of her arch-enemy, Austen. His parents were filthy rich, and there she was, a pauper whom he hated. The feeling was mutual. But did that have to spell doom for her?

“Glimmers of Hope by Kristy Lee is an exciting novel. The plot and development were realistic, unique, and relatable. Children in the foster system go through a different kind of hell that affects their outlook on life. I was glad that Birdie was resilient and always a step ahead. Also, the consequences of teenage exuberance cannot be overemphasized. However, adults, caregivers, parents, and guardians should guide and not judge, or else their wards could make fatal mistakes. It’s on this note that I wish Dorothea much-needed peace. I enjoyed reading this book as it was straightforward to follow, and I loved the first-person narrative, which made the dialogues even more enjoyable. Kristy’s writing was also stylish and packed with the necessary emotions for each scene. Glimmers of Hope is a fantastic page-turner, and I hope Kristy Lee will write more.”
