Personal injury law firm Zimmerman & Frachtman recently announced the winner for their annual scholarship program. Jalesia Pouncy, an incoming freshman at the Gupton-Jones Funeral College in Decatur, Georgia, will be receiving the award.

Parkland, Florida – June 28, 2021 – Zimmerman & Frachtman Scholarship will now be awarding its new recipient for the academic year 2020-2021. Following a year of receiving applicant entries, the deserving student is a college freshman from Gupton-Jones Funeral College, Jalesia Pouncy. Jalesia will be taking up a degree in Funeral Directing and will be receiving her $1,000 scholarship grant in the fall semester of 2021.

Lawyers are all about seeking justice where it needs to be served. Sometimes, injustices can take in many forms, such as wrongful accidents, occupational hazards, or even an unexpected death. The job of a personal injury attorney is to bring rightful compensation and verdict for those who deserve it–a responsibility that Zimmerman & Frachtman legal firm has taken upon their shoulder for more than two decades.

With these core values and responsibility initiatives in mind, the company is also aware of many social injustices in the country. Some college students, due to the lack of financial resources are unable to pursue their higher education degree or have the capacity to continue their studies due to unexpected monetary burdens. This is the main inspiration of the Zimmerman & Frachtman Scholarship, which now serves as an annual program to give back to deserving students who want to achieve their dreams.

The scholarship program for the school year 2020-2021 received many entries, but one student stood out because of her essay answer on the following question: “What are 5 tips you’d give to a new driver to help prevent an accident?” Jalesia Pouncy, a high school senior recently accepted to Gupton-Jones Funeral College, gave a concise and sensible answer on what new drivers should keep in mind to avoid accidents.

“It’s an exciting step toward independence and adulthood, but it’s also a big responsibility, and it’s important that you balance this (awesome) freedom with caution and safe behavior,” she remarked. Jalesia also added the importance of minding other people on the road as a driver. She believes that it is a shared responsibility for everyone.

“What you do in the driver’s seat not only affects you, but everyone else on the road, too,” the student mentioned.

“Keep your eyes on the road. That means no texting, no calling, no eating, no channel surfing on the radio, and no turning around to chat with friends in the backseat. Accidents can happen in a split second, but if you’re paying attention, you’ll have a better chance of avoiding one.”

Jalesia also advised strongly against driving under the influence, as this becomes the culprit of many accidents on the road.

“DON’T DRIVE UNDER THE INFLUENCE. Just don’t. This includes being under the influence of alcohol, drugs, or lack of sleep. Nobody should have to tell you how severe the consequences can be,” she concluded.

Zimmerman & Frachtman Scholarship has the goal of helping outstanding students receive financial assistance to pursue their higher education. By taking part in students’ educational and occupational futures, the company believes that it can change lives for the better one student at a time.
